Sr. HR Consultant
Susan Barbee joined the RPG Solutions team in May of 2012. She began her HR career working in the Fortune 100 for American Home Products in New York City supporting employee benefits. She later joined the nation’s leading public relations firm, Burson Marsteller, responsible for both their domestic and expatriate employees in 30 countries worldwide. After her time at Burson Marsteller, Susan helped build a HR department from scratch in conjunction with the acquisition of the Murdoch Magazines by K-III Holdings.
In 1993, Susan joined Performance Bicycle. She oversaw over 800 employees in 20 states including retail, manufacturing and distribution employees. Susan left Performance Bicycle to take the helm at Tangram Enterprise Solutions in Cary, North Carolina where she and her team were able to facilitate the doubling of the company’s software development team, while meeting all business and financial performance goals.
Susan’s industry experience includes areas such as: manufacturing, publishing, public relations and a specific focus in technology firms ranging from small start-ups to large Fortune 100 companies. Her experience includes HRIS implementation, compensation, employee benefits, employee relations and people strategy. Her passion is the alignment of human capital with business objectives for superior results. She regularly speaks at industry groups throughout the region on these and other topics.
Susan is a member of the Raleigh-Wake Human Resources Management Association and the editor of the North Carolina HR Review. Susan is a graduate of North Carolina State University. She holds the SPHR, CIC, and AAI certifications.
Rachel is a skilled HR generalist with experience in all aspects of HR administration, including compliance, performance management, recruiting and hiring, training, employee relations and benefits administration. As an HR consultant in Silicon Valley, Rachel worked with a diverse client base that had varying HR needs. From small start-up companies, looking to stay compliant and competitive, to training and development for larger companies seeking to develop and grow their management teams.
Prior to her HR career, Rachel spent several years as a business manager in the high-tech public relations industry. She developed PR and marketing programs for Hewlett-Packard’s Network Server Division and Home Products Division and managed the PR effort to launch Encanto Networks, an Internet and application service provider based in Santa Clara, CA. She later joined Tumbleweed Software, a developer of secure file transfer solutions in Redwood City, CA, as PR Manager.
It was in the high-tech PR industry that Rachel learned the value of hiring and retaining the right people – a philosophy that lead to her career in Human Resources. As HR Manager at Copithorne & Bellows (now a part of Porter Novelli) in San Jose, CA, Rachel gained valuable experience in benefits administration, employee relations, recruiting and performance management. She was able to transition these skills as a HR consultant for Core Elements, an HR consulting firm in Saratoga, CA, working with several start-up companies to develop competitive recruiting and retention programs as they rode the technology bubble.
Rachel is thrilled to restart her HR career at RPG Solutions after moving to North Carolina with her husband 10 years ago and taking a few years off to raise her two sons, Matthew and Ryan. Rachel is certified in HR employment law, HR administration and holds a BA and MA from Boston College. She is a former PTA President at Hunter Elementary in Raleigh and serves on the advisory board at Marbles Children’s Museum and Christ Church Preschool.
